It was a perfect day to celebrate the dedication of the new chapel/formation center thanks to your efforts and kind donations. Over one hundred faithful filled the new center to celebrate the Eucharist and to kick off the fiesta of Our Lady of the Rosary, for whom the new center is named. Diego Plá, C.M.( pastor of the parish), Flora Silva (pastoral associate and director of all our charitable services), and I were joined by Padre Hervé, a french priest who was visiting with us, as we celebrated this important event with the folks of Wilalcala and gave thanks to God and honored Mary.

Flora proclaimed the Magnificat at the new ambo, while the people sang, “Aruntsmaw Maria, Diosan graciapampi phuqatätawa” (Hail Mary, full of grace!). We baptized twenty infants and children and confirmed two young adults. We generously blessed the space with water. The Word of God invigorated the people, and Diego preached on the care God shows through the loving protection of our Blessed Mother. We announced our plans to have a permanent catechesis program for children and youth, as well as monthly formation for the catechists of the Altiplano.

I had the privilege of presiding at Eucharist. We dedicated the altar and ambo (the generous gift of two friends in the States) in memory of deceased Vincentian Father Emerick Hydo. We sang and laughed, processed throughout the plaza and shared food together. It was grand. Here are more photos than you’ll ever need! You did it! We all did it!
