My travels have brought me to Niagara University, amidst snow and wind. It actually feels nice to have some real winter after the strange stuff that’s been masquerading as the weather. I’ve already re-connected with some of our friends who were down for a week of social justice discussions and service at St. Joe’s last week. Niagara still feels like home — I worked here from 1984-94 — so it’s a comfortable place to be.

Brother Augustine Towey, from whom I learned of poet Mary Oliver — gave me a copy of his most recent work. I’ll be sharing some of it with you this year. We had a nice chat over lunch, recalling some of his winter poetry, so influenced by the Niagara landscape.

Podcast tomorrow. Be peaceful.
